oatmeal & rust...

my friend Jami at freckled laundry

is doing a series of posts on

identifying vintage design styles...

she inspired me to identify my our style!

let's start with...colour...

oatmeal w/ cinnamon & coffee...

(so most of you know i am 59... i {LoVe} this shoe...

i once had a collection of many like this and

wore them with hip hugger bell bottoms...

oh what a feeling!)

the place that makes me feel like

 i'm dancing...on 42nd street!

Good Morning...pretty wall clock that we purchased in
Alabama when we were newly weds (around 1974)!

mr dreams and i have been collecting antique

accent pieces and art for over 37 years now.

we just cannot abandon our keepsakes

and memories. so i guess what i am saying is

it's going to be fun carrying our 70's, 80's & 90's

acquisitions into this 2011 up cycle!

our Tony Turpin watercolor...mr d. and i
spent our life savings on this (220.00)...we were in our 20's
way before kids... (no, we weren't hippies).

it's a perfect depiction of old meeting new...

so it's the hallmark of our

newly defined...

a simple truth...

"that people could come into the world

in a place they could not at first even name

and had never known before;

and that out of a nameless and unknown

place they could grow and move

around in it until it's name they knew

and called with love, and call it HOME,

and put roots there and love others there;

so that whenever they left this place

they would sing homesick songs about it

and write poems of yearning for it..."

movie night food...for the grown ups...

movie night used to consist of

pizza, popcorn, soda and some sweet

treats...but now that the kids are gone

we take turns picking grown up treats!

one of our favorite movie night feasts:

 artichokes, artisan bread

and a good bottle of wine!

on Saturday night as i plated "chokes"

and prepared to serve them,

the colors caught my eye...so i thought i would

try out my new camera in the kitchen!

we usually dip the leaves and immerse the hearts

in butter...

we also have a couple favorite dips...

here are

the recipes for your enjoyment!

Curry Mayonnaise
1 c mayo
2 tsp curry powder
2 tsp butter
Melt butter in a small pan. Add curry powder.
Bubble gently for a minute or two over low heat
to eliminate any bitterness from the curry powder.
 Cool and add to mayo.

  Pesto Mayonnaise
1 c mayo
3 Tbsp pesto sauce
mix thoroughly and adjust to taste

ENJOY!
