i'm back with more French sugar!

if you don't know me by now...
sure, i'm singing it!
{circa 1972 ~ Jersey ~ Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes}
i am always in pursuit of a
little French sugar!...

on this rainy PacNWest morning,
i virtually had my coffee and quiche with
The French Basketeer!

her post today, about her "Father's Wishes",
is filled with sugar and sweetness for all of us!

the image above is her gift!
blackberry and rose ice cream... it's topped
with her Dad's special jam.
{the recipe ~ she shares}

she inspired me to share
a recipe for rose ice cream...(a clipping
from one of my ancient Victoria Magazines!)

Rose Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 4 cups light cream
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons rose extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash pink food coloring

Directions

Whisk together the light cream, heavy cream, milk, sugar, rose water, salt, and pink food coloring in a bowl. Pour into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions. Serve immediately for soft-serve style or transfer to a container and store in the freezer for a few hours for a firmer ice cream.

when i wish to elevate my day...
i LOVE to visit the French Basketeer!

berry simple!

another
A N T H R O P O L O G I E
infatuation!

off of the berry subject for a second here...
but i can just see these holding tomatoes
on my kitchen windowsill...they come in
two sizes, 14 and 20 dollars!

now! back to berries...

no recipes here
just some berry sweet
PHOTO INSPIRATION, with
a few added touches!

i love to add fresh berries to frosting.
i am going to share a
secret. if you are really pressed
for time, go to your fave bakery...
you can buy frosting by the pound.
it is so much better than that darn
frosting in a can! it keeps in the
fridge for a week...(maybe longer...
just ask the baker! ) the "fruited
frosting" with grammies...a real treat!

always IN THE HOUSE...
are frozen pound cake, gotta love Costco
 frozen berries & whipping cream!
i layer pound cake, berries and
whipping cream! for extra pizazz,
drizzle with a berry liquor.
scoop it up with a spoon and
plop it in a pretty goblet, crystal,
 or silver dish...or jelly jars!

for your individual
guilty healthy pleasure,
MAKE FROZEN YOGURT FANCY!
make a graham cracker +oatmeal + almond
crumble for the bottom of the jar...
 i use equal parts...
 GC + O + chopped A, drizzle with
EVOO and bake for about 10 min!
{gotta love those jelly jars}

we berry up our beverages!
our faves are Champagne and Martinellis!
everyone can toast!

have the greatest weekend!

MAY GOD BLESS OUR DADS!

Wednesday's wrap!

hi all! i hope you are having a great day!
i finished the mattress and placed in the cradle!

***

the cradle is a family heirloom.
it needed a special touch before
leaving 34th street!

i saved a few of the flowers that my mother
made for Chrislyn and Jason's wedding.
(a tutorial will be posted soon)

another favorite wrapping element of mine
is using cotton twill woven ribbon.
i attached three of the flowers to the ribbon
and tied it around the mattress.

(keeping with my tradition of topping a gift
with a little gift!)

here's how the mattress looks in our
family's beautiful handmade cradle.

my cousin made this for mr d and i
when we were expecting Chrislyn.
both she and Jay slept the first three months
of their lives next to our bed in
this beautiful handcrafted nest!
the cradle has been in our bedroom
for 28 years, with the exception of
the years that Chrislyn used it for her dollies!

it's now ready make a move to
C & J's home to hold a new living doll!

with a big, happy sigh...i sign off today!

what i'm doing...

i'm making a cradle mattress.

i found a product called NuFoam
at Jo-Ann's. it comes in all sizes and
thicknesses. they even have it in a kit
for crib bumpers. anyway...i bought 2 inch
thick and doubled it. i had this amazing soft
sage - grey pillow ticking in my stash.
i laundered it and started my first
 attempt at hand welting!

wrapped and pinned!

nice and tight!

hand welting, it's looking good!

finishing the ends...just like a perfectly
wrapped package!
(hmmmm, maybe i should have saved
this for Wednesday's wrap!)

a closer view of the end...the corner edges
still need to be tucked! i'll show you
the finished product tomorrow!

i apologize for the lighting and quality
of the photo's, but...i do most of my work
at dawn and dusk...(before and after work).
i just have to share the morning light today.
i love my dining room, even when it's in
decorating transition.  (it's time to take
the anniversary love letters off of the
chandie!) i'm off to work early.
i must stay ahead of the game to take
time off for the big arrival day!

market Monday!

[DREAMY WHITES]

Maria est une extraordinaire marchand!

i purchased a French shot bag filled with
lavender to go in a room that mr d and
i have been working on. i could smell the
fields of Provence and feel the French charm
as i unwrapped the package!
the bag was more perfect than i
anticipated. the fabric is a tightly
woven herringbone jacquard! can you tell
that i love the fine details?

now atop our French roll top desk on 34th street
included was a hand penned note on a
pretty postcard with her Dreamy White
blog banner along with another sweet little
added touch!

if you are looking for trésor français
presently, Maria is
offering free shipping within the US!

this photo is on an envelope
on my dream board!
***
a girl can save for a dream!
but that's a whole new post!

have the best week ever!
we're on bébé watch...one week to go!
