14 days Hands
'til Derby Day!
(there will be no Mint Juleps or Kentucky Bourbon on 34th street.)
about five years ago, Mr D brought me a souvenir from one
of his hunting trips to eastern Washington.
the wine, at that time could only be found in restaurants and some
small little shops along the Columbia Basin. i would look forward to
that once a year visit to the basin when he would bring home a
couple bottles of Cab and a bottle of Merlot.
here is a map of Washington wine country. when you talk about grapes around here,
the buzz is Red Mountain and Horse Heaven. if you visit Washington wine country, you
meet the most wonderful, passionate entrepreneurs.
the basin is alive!
business is booming!
so...when i popped on the Kentucky Derby website a couple weeks ago
and saw Hot To Trot sponsoring the Taste of Derby, i felt a little Washington state pride!
this year we'll be tasting Washington
and toasting the beauty of wild horses!
don't forget the roses!

Sounds interesting! I started drinking wine a few years ago in the evenings to help me sleep better...and now, I am drinking it at dinner as well!
ReplyDeleteI might have to check into this!
Have a great rest of the weekend Lynne!
Hugs from here

Love wine, and always looking for something new :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the wine. I am not so good at judging wines...sometimes the expensive stuff taste nasty to me. I like a nice cold martini, perverably on a cruise ship.LOL. Have a great weekend. xo, Susie
