mother's keepsake box series...finding Sally...

inside the box that my mother gave me was this little windowpane
check linen towel with the image of a dog embroidered on it.
i recognized it, immediately!

she gave me Sally! Sally was my mom's very first dog!
 she was a Scotch Terrier.
when my mom was about 5 years old, her mother taught her how to embroider.
mom chose Sally's image for her first sampler piece.
this weekend, i washed and pressed the sweet keepsake.
for now Sally shall reside on the Kitchen Aid. she is 76 years old and
very happy in her new home outside of the box!

opening a perfect Pandora...

a few weeks ago,
when i was over visiting my Mom and Dad,
Mom said, " i have a box of stuff for you, Lynne."
"there may be some fun things "inside" that you would like to blog about!"
this morning, i started pulling a few things out of the box.
there will be much to share in future posts!

a perfect Pandora...
a beautiful box of  brocante...

trésor d'amour!

 weekend pleasure treasure...enjoy!

a little of our horse the derby!

14 days Hands
'til Derby Day!

(there will be no Mint Juleps or Kentucky Bourbon on 34th street.)

about five years ago, Mr D brought me a souvenir from one
of  his hunting trips to eastern Washington.

the wine, at that time could only be found in restaurants and some
small little shops along the Columbia Basin.  i would look forward to
that once a year visit to the basin when he would bring home a
couple bottles of Cab and a bottle of Merlot.

here is a map of Washington wine country.  when you talk about grapes around here,
the buzz is Red Mountain and Horse Heaven. if you visit Washington wine country, you
meet the most wonderful, passionate entrepreneurs.

the basin is alive!

business is booming!

so...when i popped on the Kentucky Derby website a couple weeks ago
and saw Hot To Trot  sponsoring the Taste of  Derby,  i felt a little Washington state pride!

this year we'll be tasting Washington

and toasting the beauty of wild horses!
don't forget the roses!

Wednesday's wrap!

i am always on the lookout for
fun ways to present a gift.
this morning, i was over at Maison de Stencils
checking out the cute little burlap bags.

i discovered that Lisa has a give a way going on. she is offering her customers
and  the followers of her new blog a chance to win one of her 12 x 12
stencils.  i know that my odds to win will now be a bit smaller, but... what kind of a blog
girlfriend would i be if i didn't share the love?

i zeroed in on the French stuff...but there is
much more to see!

if you would like a chance to win, visit here!

~ i feel a give a way wrapped in a burlap bag in your future!~

the *skinny* on basket dipping...

i have been on a quest to add some simple pops of
white around this place.

basket dipping has intrigued me for awhile.

i have avoided it because it looks like a real mess maker.'s kind of cool...different...hip looking.
i love how it looks on the more rustically woven baskets!

Wisteria "chicdom"

a little less refined... in color.

on the next sunny day, i'm going to add a little water to some left over latex
and go dipping with Martha, here!

and... just before i was about to publish this post...

...i noticed Jennifer Rizzo's dip dyed legs on my blogroll!
her post today is another example of perfection in a small space.

are you ready to go?

how fun is this photo?
it's just screams warm weather on the go to me.
i would love to pop one of these over my shoulder with blue jeans,
a white tee and flip flops or Tom's!
don't forget your passport!

yes! i found the photo corners at Picmonkey.
it's that one door closes a window opens thing again!
thank you to all that gave me the direction and confidence to move ahead!

Wednesday's wrap...the last Picnik show...

it's a wrap!
(a little Hollywood vernacular spoken here)

i've ordered my takeout!
(if you Picnik you know what i'm talkin' about!)

my final Picnik banner.
i love to change my banner. for me, it's like window trimming. change the displays.
keep it fresh and new. it's from my old retail days.

with the probability of not changing my banner for awhile, i opted for a more
permanent concept.  it's simple, transitional, and makes it's 34th street statement.
i shot the image on the left at the Barn House Market last Summer.
the image on the right, i found on Pinterest.
the source is unclear. (if you are the source, please leave a comment
or send me an email so i may give you credit and a link on my sidebar!)

what are your plans for replacing Picnik?
have you found a program that is equally user friendly?

with all of this French's time to workout!
