a welcome home gift for Jay... (a perfect, simple "blessing"... and it's tutorial!)

this all started out with my hunt for a cross

for my grandson Ben's nursery.  i wanted something special

like the cross that i found for Holland, at Maggie Weldon, here...but for a boy!

Chrislyn said, "Mom, i found the sweetest cross on Pinterest!"

"it's perfect!"

she was "right on" !

not only was it perfect for Ben, it would also be perfect for Jay!

those of you that have been following me, know that baseball holds it's

place in our life here on 34th street.

when Chrislyn asked if i had any baseballs around the house...

...i had to chuckle.  we have over 100!

(most of them holding a sentimental attachment.)

Chrislyn made Ben's cross, and this morning, i made Jay's ...

all you need is a baseball, and a (half price) shadow
box.  i found this box at Hobby Lobby!

oh!'ll need an x-acto knife!

just cut along in the little groove between the stitches.
( i went around twice.)

it's pretty stringy inside a baseball!

this was an old, and very used ball so the leather was stiff.

i removed the layer of string from each piece!

the shadowbox frame came with the burlap
background and four push pins! i am telling you
this little project was almost effortless...

... for something that turned out so sweet!

the gift will be on his pillow when he arrives home
early tomorrow morning.

For Jay:
Baseball IS like life!
We make errors.
In life, it is HIS sacrifice that will bring you HOME!
We Love you!
Mom and Dad!
July 4th 2013

we'll have a big hug and put on the biscuits and gravy!

Happy Birthday, America!

i'll see you all on Friday!

the little laundry closet on 34th street is officially entered in the The Good Home Co. and Hillary Thomas Total Transformation Contest !

i cannot believe that i am sharing this ...

but, why not!

i love it when i dream,

so ...

... just for the heck of it, let me share

last night's dream!

you are going to laugh ... because my dream was ... sort of wish.

i think it was sparked  by what i was doing just before bedtime ...

... last night,  before bed, i started to prepare a Pinterest board so i

could enter this contest!

$3000.00 would go a  L - O - N - G    W - A - Y ...

in my little laundry closet room!

it would be awesome to watch pretty ugly, but organized

a quick little ribbon banner...

i know... i am late to decorate.

i leave my red white and blue up most of the month of July!

Chrislyn wrapped this cute red and white woven ribbon, (a gift itself)

around a thank you gift that she gave me recently.

i thought that it would make a really sweet little pennant banner.

i'm adding a few touches to the guest room, to welcome Jay home

on July 4th.

the banner took all of ten minutes to assemble. i then filled  two bags

with pebbles to anchor a red, white and lavender blue banner, that i am

working on for the dining room!

( there are no nails allowed on the cottage wall)

here is a little sneak peek!

i harvested the culinary lavender, yesterday.

i can't wait to mix it with raw sugar...or... sprinkle

some onto my raspberry - honey French bread toast on Friday!

i'm out of to the work!

enjoy this day!

we're on a roll ! ...all the way to Independence Day !

Sunday to all of you!

yesterday was Holland's big day!

since Chrislyn finds rare time to blog,  i thought that i

would share some of the festivities and creativity!

she did such a wonderful job bringing Holland's favorite

character Caillou to her celebration day!

the weather was perfect for bubbles and waterworks!

she managed four wardrobe changes by...

...sundae time!

a petite Caillou rode on a galvanized lazy susan filled

with sprinkles, and homemade caramel and chocolate sauce!

(i must get the recipes from Chrislyn to share with you one day!)

the sundaes were self serve a la Maison Mason!

(gotta love this universal on going trend!)

after a couple rounds of the Caillou theme song, lead by the

birthday girl and her was time to sing "Birthday To You"...

...and blow!

Mr D took this sweet picture of Ben playing with one of the

adorable hand knit puppets made by his Great Grandma Becky!

it was a wonderful day!  lot's of  laughter and hugs!

next on the agenda?

on the morning of Independence Day, we welcome our son Jay for ten days!

a Mom is truly blessed when she has all of her babies in one place!
