F r e n c h b r e a d o n F r i d a y . . .

i hope that you are all doing well.

i am on day 6 of a hideous cold.

uggghhhh!

( i thought that i had escaped the cold and flu season. )

achooooooooo!
à tes / vos souhaits (to your wishes) after the first sneeze

achooooooooo!
 à tes / vos amours, ( to your loves) after the second sneeze, and qu'elles durent toujours,
(that they last forever )

achooooooooo!
 after the third, one can say Dieu te/vous bénisse (God bless you ) or Santé (health).



i am relieved to have the weekend ahead to continue my recovery.

i hope that i can find some energy to start a bit of spring cleaning, or

if weather permits, a little fresh air in the garden.

 i am planning to make mustard!

a little over a year ago on one of our stays at Whistler, we 

went to the Four Seasons for some appetizers, drinks and music.

one of the appetizers chosen for our table was the

BC Artisan Charcuterie & Cheese - Daily Selection of Artisan 

Cheeses and Cured Meats


i now wish that i had taken a picture of it.

( when in Whistler, i try to unplug. )

the selection came with the most amazing stone ground whole grain mustard.

( i believe that it had a hint of cilantro in it. )

 it was so yummy, i could have eaten it with a spoon.

i inquired about the mustard.

the waiter said,  "our chef makes it!."

i had thought about writing Chef JEAN-PIERRE BOULOT

a thank you note, with a request for his recipe.

 ( i didn't . . . would it be inappropriate? )

 i had hoped to visit the Four Seasons for appetizers

when we were at Whistler at the beginning of the month.

 with the anticipation of bills from Mr D's unplanned hospital

ER visit and ICU stay in February, we made sensible choices, with

gratitude that his quick recovery allowed us to take the journey, after all.

  needless to say new loves and stories were generated,

as this year's journey was about "the fam" and "a first Whistler" for our grands.

( i didn't miss the mustard. )

on the Sunday before we departed for Whistler, Cat at Rabbit Hill

held her monthly market. her Instagram posts leading up to her

 once - a - month - on - line - French - market 

indicated that she was assembling some whole grain mustard kits for her shop!

( social media can be so serendipitous! )
