a little of our horse heaven...at the derby!

14 days Hands 

'til Derby Day!

(there will be no Mint Juleps or Kentucky Bourbon on 34th street.)

about five years ago, Mr D brought me a souvenir from one

of  his hunting trips to eastern Washington.  

the wine, at that time could only be found in restaurants and some 

small little shops along the Columbia Basin.  i would look forward to

that once a year visit to the basin when he would bring home a

couple bottles of Cab and a bottle of Merlot.

here is a map of Washington wine country.  when you talk about grapes around here, 

the buzz is Red Mountain and Horse Heaven. if you visit Washington wine country, you

meet the most wonderful, passionate entrepreneurs.

the basin is alive! 

business is booming! 

so...when i popped on the Kentucky Derby website a couple weeks ago

and saw Hot To Trot  sponsoring the Taste of  Derby,  i felt a little Washington state pride!

Wednesday's wrap!

i am always on the lookout for 

fun ways to present a gift.

this morning, i was over at Maison de Stencils

checking out the cute little burlap bags.

 i discovered that Lisa has a give a way going on. she is offering her customers

stencils.  i know that my odds to win will now be a bit smaller, but... what kind of a blog
girlfriend would i be if i didn't share the love?

the *skinny* on basket dipping...

i have been on a quest to add some simple pops of 

white around this place.

basket dipping has intrigued me for awhile.

i have avoided it because it looks like a real mess maker.

but...it's kind of cool...different...hip looking.

i love how it looks on the more rustically woven baskets!

a little less refined... in color.

on the next sunny day, i'm going to add a little water to some left over latex
 and go dipping with Martha, here!
