40 fleurs!

forty years ago today, i married Mr D.

the pink dogwood trees were in full bloom.

...inspired me to take my dress outside

 to visit our pink dogwood tree!
( Mom, Dad, Chrislyn and Jay planted it for us on our 25th!)

...forty flowers YEARS!

i am so glad that i held onto my dress for 

this glorious image and celebration!

as were many brides of the early 70's,

my dress and veil were inspired by...

...the movie Romeo and Juliet. 

to this day, i adore cotton organdy and Venice lace.

Mr D.  I LOVE you, and I thank you

 for this amazing journey!

our life together holds it's course to eternity, 

as it is fueled and fed...

French bread on Friday...mon rêve..."fille de fleur"...a one stop French flower shop!

there would be fresh linen and

on the first Saturday of every month,

Wednesday's wrap! a little change in plans...

Whew!

it's been a little crazy around here!

as i mentioned in Monday's post, the dryer went out

on Saturday!  the problem was a 22.00 thermal fuse. fortunately, 

there was a fuse available about 15 minutes from my office.  i  was

able to pick it up on my lunch hour yesterday!  

last night Mr D disassembled the dryer.  he cleaned all the nooks 

and crannies and replaced the fuse! we're officially back in the business of

laundry... thanks to the talented Mr D...( i love him)!  the repair was 22.00 

and about an hour and one half of toil with an occasional expletive.

our laundry room is teeny tiny...and...let us not forget that

he had spent a day at work with a two hour commute!

last night post repair shrimp linguini softened the blow!

i was going to wrap Jay's birthday gifts this morning,

but i still needed to finish Chrislyn's Mother's Day gift.

we decided to exchange Mother's Day gifts and celebrate  

Mr D's birthday tonight!'

i gathered goodies for inspiration...

i chose to go with birds and bright!  

i went free form with the bakery twine!   sort of non-contrived and fun!

tonight, after dinner at Chrislyn and Jason's house,  i need to address

the chaos on the farm table!  

the first lavender harvest of the year took place last night between dryer

repair and dinner.  i will tie to dry for sachets tonight after wrapping

Jay's gifts!

oh! no.     

it's time to go!

 i have got to get to work! 

 i'll see ya Friday!

a whole pot of "random coffee"!

hello everyone!

i hope that you had a great Mother's Day weekend!

for us, the weekend held it's share of  beautiful and chaotic moments!

i missed work on Friday. the flu bug won! i was officially wiped out!

Mr D and i spent Saturday out in the garden. we planted eighteen day lilies, 

(six of each of the above).  we also transplanted some lavender.

the dryer went out on Saturday night. 

the inside of our house looks like this!

Mr D had to work on Mother's Day, which also happened to

be his birthday!  just after he departed for work, i let 

the Chocolate Gousse outside, before heading to church.

  the back gate was open!

i didn't discover her disappearance for about ten minutes.  

needless to say, i was driving around the neighborhood with the

windows down calling her name and shaking the tin that holds 

her biscuits cookies... for thirty minutes!  we live on a LOOP within another LOOP,

then there is THE BUSY STREET!   i finally found her on the OUTER LOOP, just 

three houses from THE BUSY STREET!

Gousse, (pronounced Goose), is anything but streetwise.

she is a 100 pound Chocolate Lab that is a very pampered inside dog!

 the MAN ABOVE was extra help. ( he saw that i was in my 

church clothes.)   i had a combination of prayer, "Get Me To 

The Church On Time", and i cannot loose Gousse on Mr D's birthday,

 playing over and over in my mind!  

i made it to church with five minutes to spare!

after church, we had a wonderful brunch at Chrislyn and Jason's house!

 Holland was just up from her afternoon nap!

 i am so glad that she could be in the picture.  Ben was still sleeping.

after brunch, i stopped by the grocery store to pick up fresh salad ingredients

 and two New York steaks for Mr D's birthday dinner. i was headed back to the

car from the "cart return" when a young man said, "ma'am, can i give you a

 bouquet of flowers for Mother's Day?"  i  accepted the bouquet and thanked him

for his kindness!  

i snapped a picture of the pretty bouquet this morning!

tonight Mr D will be taking the dryer apart!  bless his heart!
